What’s a first time mom to get….

Mike & I started our baby registry. And let’s just say, it was interesting. There are just so many “things” to get!

If you follow me on pinterest, you’ll see I’ve been busy pinning my favorite baby things. Hah-none of them are in my price range, but a girl can dream!

JP Lizzy Slate Citron Satchel - Diaper bag that doesn't look like a diaper bag! This is the wrap I want!!! Happy Wrap – Sunshine Chicco KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat - Fuego -

Everybody has an opinion of what to get and what not to get {from cribs to carriers to slings to diapers}.

I thought what the heck, why not ask all of you what you recommend!

Obviously I know I need certain things! What brand I need , is another story. I’m thinking the experience & opinions of my friends are better judgments than some of the reviews written on a companies website.

I want to hear from you!!

What were your must haves as a mama? What were your could have done with outs?

Liz, I didn't find much use of a changing pad. You'll either change the diaper on the bed or on the couch. The pad was just another big thing in the way. Also, with Emma being born in June you may not use as many receiving blankets because of the heat. I barely used mine.

Liz! I'm so excited for you guys! :) I feel like the first couple months are just about eating and sleeping. Our life changer was the nap nanny (think no sleep for 8 wks then 5 hours at a time!!). I think a rock n play is a similar cheaper option. Also the sleep sacks with the Velcro swaddler are the BEST! For eating all I know is nursing. But as far as nursing goes: get lanolin. Start using it, like, yesterday! Seriously it works. A good breast feeding pillow will save your back (I would even take mine places I loved it so much). And our insurance totally paid for us renting a pump from the hospital & so I got the same brand of bottles as the pump so you can pump into them! A little later toys and stuff are good, but you only need the basics in the beginning! :)

I recommend getting one set of aden + anais swaddling blankets they're amazingly soft & lightweight enough for summer when there is a breeze & want baby to stay warm. Sleep sheep or one of the other animals they have... we have 3! Two travel & one regular sized, we keep one at my mom's house at all times & then have one on the car seat or stroller. Swaddle me sleep sacks, they have been a life saver this time around. So much easier then always trying to get the swaddle right each time. Oh and something no one ever would think of a delicates bag for the laundry so you can put those itty bitty socks in it and not lose any of them! I got this after I lost a ton of Zane's adorable little baby socks in the laundry... and now I won't wash any baby socks without it & haven't lost any since then!

I agree on the changing pad!! And hopefully I won't need too many blankets this summer :)

Thanks girl :) I've heard of the nap nanny! We registered for the rock n play, but that requires constant rocking so we'll see if it works out for us! I'll be nursing too so definitely taking up your recommendations on the cream & matching bottles for the pump!

With the rock n play, you don't have to rock it for them! We hardly rock ours and Baby Girl still loves it!! I would highly recommend it, she loves hers and we can take it everywhere!

Really? That's good to know :)

I think it's the angle for some babies. Our little man is a belly sleeper but I was way too terrified to let him sleep on his stomach until he could roll well. So the nap nanny snuggled him & helped him kind of curl up to sleep. :) also we had some reflux issues so the angle helps with the spit up.

A bouncy seat is a MUST HAVE in my opinion. It allows you to get a shower in with a newborn :) My babies would sit in the bouncer in the bathroom while I showered and I couldn't have done it without it! A pack n play is great if you're going to go over to people's houses during nap time or if you want a play area for baby in another room or on another level of your house. I think a swing is unnecessary. None of my babies liked them. I love a Halo Sleep Sack. Best swaddler out there in my opinion!!! As far as an "indulgence" i LOVE my Timi & Leslie Diaper Bag. I like having a cute diaper bag that I can rock as though it's a purse. I have the Charlie bag in black by them. I also scored it for a deal by getting it off Amazon warehouse open box discount deals. Scroll to the very bottom of Amazon and you'll see in the fine print Warehouse Deals. Check it out! It's just like if someone returned it for the wrong color or something and they can't resell it because it was opened.

I agree with Claire! A bouncer was a life saver! With a few hours of sleep a night it's amazing what a shower will do for you...and the bouncer was the key to that for me! I was also given a Life Is Good diaper bag and it's a messenger style bag. I love it because it allows me to be hands free and able to carry baby and still have a hand free for opening doors, carrying groceries, etc. Plus my hubby doesn't mind carrying it either (bonus). :) We have LSO gotten a lot of use out our nursing pillow. I took it to the hospital with me and it went everywhere with me! As my now 6 month old grew the Velcro straps helped spreading him while learning to sit up on his own and as a wonderful propping up pillow when he was on his belly. Congrats on the upcoming arrival of Emma and good luck as you sort through the world of baby gear!

I definitely registered for a nursing pillow! I know people say a regular pillow will work fine, but I want to be comfortable at least in some aspect during BF lol!

my definite must have after having two is my mommaroo!!!!! neither really liked the swing even tho it swung both ways. it is an absolute lifesaver with 5 different settings such as car ride, tree swing, and imitates baby rocking in your arms. I also have the baby k'tan wrap which I loved for the early months. since I had sterling in the summer I got the one with the mesh option to keep me cooler and I loved it. Te ERGO carrier rocks!!!! I use it daily and it just feels so comfy on and I never get tired of carrying her. my husband also wears it:) The jumper is a must have! both of my kids have lived in the jumpers! they are jumping machines!!:) we have the one that hooks on the doorway for taking places an then tr bigger one that sets on the floor:) The miracle wrap was a lifesaver for Sawyer!!!:) he always kicked out of the wraps in his early days and this was amazing!:)

Also my skip hop diaper bag was amazing for my first but I have petunia pickle bottom for my little girl and I am truly in love with it:) The soft cloth wipes from Bjs have helped me clean my children for The last three years and I could not have been happier with them. We also have the four in one high chair which rocks!!! It can seat three at once if taken apart!!:) I now just have the top part on one of my kitchen chairs to save room and the booster on a chair for my three year old!! It's from Graco and we got it at toys r us.
