I’m a nerd.

Or so everyone is telling me since I got these…

DSC_0040 2

And ya know what? I’m totally ok with it!

DSC_0041

Not only because all of my friends look stellar in them…

DSC_0005DSC_0006DSC_0007DSC_0011

Or because this little chick can definitely rock them…

g in glasses

And I promise not because this pretty peach just couldn’t resist trying them on…

DSC_0010 2
(no worries, no child was harmed in the taking of this picture)

It’s definitely because they are comfortable & fit perfectly with my hat… (which we all know is a pretty important factor)

me in glasses

And because they make me feel better when my eyes whole body is tired…

glasses and coffee

I’m in love with these babies & I’m finding myself wearing them ALL the time. Which if you know me at all, you will get that I’m not a person who just jumps for joy when I have to wear glasses. I’ve needed them since I was a freshman in high school. And I’ve tried pair after pair. But guess what happens? I NEVER wore them. Seriously. Every time I went to the eye doctor, I got a dirty look and horrible report from the doctor. He would write me a new script and let me take an hour to pick out new frames, but it never mattered to me. My eyes are just continuing to get worse because I refuse to wear my glasses. But now. Oh friends BUT NOW, I have these beauties to rock & oh will I ever. Just this weekend I wore them 3 days in a row! 3!! That’s gotta be a record for this gal, hubby can verify. I’m definitely embracing the glasses and it’s all thanks to this super cool company called Firmoo! They have a great selection and seriously the nicest customer service. I think I bothered the rep a million times with different questions because I’m clueless and didn’t understand the form I needed to fill out.

Here is a little bio on the company:

“Here at Firmoo, we offer over 300 styles of affordable and stylish frames for you to choose from. Customers even can buy 8 pairs of different eyewear on our site instead of only one pair at the local retail outlet or mall with the same amount money. Different clothes, different mood, different glasses every day, sounds interesting, huh? And if you don’t want to rack your brain to think it over which style suits you most, we offer Virtual Try-On System that helps you see how you look with our glasses or sunglasses. You even are able to use your own photo to try our eyewear virtually, and also you can share your awesome try-on photo on yours and Firmoo’s Facebook wall and see what your friends think of it.”

Sounds pretty great, right?

It get’s better because they offer this program that lets you receive your first pair FREE! That’s right, I said FREE! If you are a first time buyer, your eyewear is completely FREE! All the knitty & gritty details can be found here. And by knitty & gritty, I really mean easy & simple.

Now I’m off to get the hubby’s prescription so we can get him a fancy new pair of specs!

DSC_0042

And because I’m assuming y’all are nosy too, here is the link to the pair that I chose. I picked the black matte style. Oh and don’t mind the snazzy dress I’m showcasing in these pictures. I’d love to say I dressed up for the photo shoot, but really it was chapel day at school and this was the most put together I had looked in over a week so I forced & bribed the MR to snap my picture. #lifeofateacher

What are you still doing here? Click on over and get yourself some new shades! Eyeglasses or sunglasses. Pick your fancy!

Outfit

I’m a hat girl. You all know that. I’m also a flip-flop girl. And a jean shorts girl. And a basic tee girl. So does it surprise you that one of my typical summer outfits involves all of those things? No, no it shouldn’t. And it really shouldn’t surprise you when I made a very basic switch from day to night. It was my anniversary and the hubby said let’s go to dinner. But this lady had been rockin the hat all day and there was no way I was going in public without it, so I needed something instead of shorts to be appropriate for dinner.

Threads by The Shine Project

When I started blogging 2 years ago as simply a teacher, I had no idea the relationships I would soon have. I simply wrote to share what I was doing in my classroom. And now that I have moved on from sharing that aspect of my life, I have found that there are genuine & true women all over the world that are eager to make a difference. Ashley is one of them. Her heart and passion are something I admire & respect. I’m amazed at all that she does for those that desperately need it. And now she is kicking off something so awesome that I am giddy with excitement! (which is mighty hard to contain since I technically can’t buy anything until July 2) But…that doesn’t mean I won’t be purchasing some bracelets for my GLOW girls very soon!
This is what Miss Shine herself says to describe this new adventure…

Threads is a cause driven business that changes the future of at risk youth. They come from various backgrounds, but all have one thing in common, they want to break the cycle. By employing them, we instill values of self reliance and hard work. They are paid fair wages for the bracelets they make, and in turn are able to pay their way through school. Many of Threads employees are first generation college students. They dream of becoming nurses, broadcasters, writers and engineers.
Your purchase will directly impact a student. Even beyond financial support, your belief in them is a symbol of hope and trust that they can achieve what for so long seemed impossible. By purchasing Threads you are wearing more than just a bracelet, you are wearing change.

You can purchase here & you can enter to win $50 shop credit here

Get excited friends, people we “know” are changing the world. Don’t you want to be part of that?

Wish List: Jewelry

infinity knot ring.
Silver Wire Sign Necklace, Umbrella Necklace
cross bracelets.feather or earings
Let’s be honest. If I had a money tree, I’d probably spend a lot of it on jewelry. I’m definitely that girl. The one that has a whole armoire full of jewelry. But the one that doesn’t wear it all nearly enough. Yep. I have a ton of great pieces, but I don’t have the guts to pull them off. So first I’d probably hire some fancy stylist to help me figure out how to pair jewelry with clothes. And then, well, then I’d need another armoire to hold all the new pieces I’m sure I’d pick out.

What I Wore…

outfit edited

So blurry because it’s an iphone picture. But you get the gist of how cute this outfit is right? Let me tell you…the whole thing cost less than $25. Total score.

I love when I have great outfits for affordable prices! And it’s even better when I own staple sandals that are still holding up after 4 years!

{HELP-I have a little Nikon CoolPix & whenever I try playing with the settings it turns out super white washed, like above! What is the best image mode to shoot in (outside) 16M or 8M? What is the best ISO sensitivity to shoot in (outside) 80 or higher? What is the best white balance to shoot in (outside) auto, daylights, incandescent? Flash on or off? Please, anyone? This is what I have to use until I win the lottery so I need to master it soon!}

Outfits | Coral & Black Skinnies

{Sun was a-shining on this outfit day! I love my sun, but why does it have to give me squinty eyes?}
DSCN6009
I think my favorite color this season is coral. (and mint green) It’s just so fresh & bright. And cheery. Which helps on these weird weather days we’ve been having. Like 40 one day & 60 the next?!

DSCN6013
And black skinnies…does it get any more half dressy/half casual than that? They go with everything. And these ones are super stretchy. Which is perfect for this self-proclaimed chocolate addict!

DSCN6012
And my gray TOMS! Let’s just say they are already in need of some baby powder. (was that too much?) I have worn them EVERYday since I got that pretty package in the mail.

It's Spring Fling Time Friends

Today’s the day! The Spring Fling party is here!

Photobucket

You know what this means, right?

You can bust out your flip-flops & tank tops! No, too soon still? For me it is since spring in NY means temps still in the 40’s. So I’ll just live vicariously through all of you that link up your spring ideas!!

When I think of Spring, I think of fruits & veggies & chocolate. Yes, chocolate. Mainly Oreo Balls. They are yummy & delicious & super easy! (fyi Tree-I think we need to make a batch soon)

You can dip them in white chocolate…

Or milk chocolate…

Seriously, it’s like a party in your mouth! And the possibilities are endless! My friend just made cookie-dough balls. You could make twix balls or snickers balls or peppermint patty balls.

Ready for the easy recipe?

Crush 1 package of Oreo’s. Mix with 1 package of cream cheese. Stick in the freezer for awhile.  Roll into little balls. Dip into your chocolate pick. Sprinkle with whatever you want!!

Now for the details of this fabulous link-up:
