Our Sweet Miracle.

IMG_4302
Emma Joy decided to make her appearance May 21st at 6:34 pm.

{5 weeks before "we" planned}

She certainly made a grand entrance into this big world & is the main reason I’ve been absent for the past 3 weeks. I’d love to say it’s because I’ve been cuddling her & nursing her & finding a routine with her at home. Sadly, that’s not the reason. Instead I’ve been camped out at her bedside in the NICU. I’ve been running on fumes trying to keep up with a whirlwind of emotions. I’ve been praying fervently that God would continue to work miracles through my sweet girl.

E was in respiratory distress as soon as she took her first breathe outside the womb. Our hospital simply didn’t have the ability to care for her & they sent her to the children’s hospital over an hour away. That’s where we’ve been ever since.

22 days later.

The question of why she came so early...before Mike could cut the umbilical cord, it disintegrated in my midwife's hands. It simply broke in half. A safe indication that the cord was probably "falling apart" inside. Call it what you may, we are so overwhelmed with what could have been & are forever thankful that my water broke that morning. The Lord knew it was time for E to come out. We could be dealing with a much different outcome...

Emma Joy is already living up to her name…all consuming jubilation. She has captured my heart (& daddy’s too) & we will do nothing short of move the mountains to make her smile.

Besides not having time or energy, I really can’t explain why I’ve turned away from blogging through this. I use this blog of mine as an outlet and a scrapbook all in one, but something in my heart hasn’t been there. I haven’t felt like myself. I haven’t felt like writing would be therapeutic. Maybe I’m right or maybe I’m wrong. I promise I’ll share her story.

Eventually.

Mike & I covet your prayers. We know God is sovereign & faithful. We know He works all things for good. And we know that His plans are not our own.

He is the same God that we praised & thanked when we got that positive test. And He is the same God that we praised & thanked the morning of May 21st as labor started.

HE is the same God.

{thank you to those of you who have reached out to offer encouragement. I will never be able to fully show my thanks}
