Keep Seeking

“Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.”
Colossians 3:1-2

Sometimes in this world, we get distracted. We start to worry. We start to complain. We start to doubt. We start to get consumed with things that are on earth.

God doesn’t want that.

When you choose to be washed new, you are a NEW BEING.

The worry, distractions, doubt…they don’t need to be part of your life anymore.
Of course, this is a fallen world & we have human nature, so there is undoubtedly going to be times of struggle. But the great thing about those times….
We can keep seeking the things above.

It’s a continuous action. Seeking the Lord.
We need to be moving forward, pursuing, pushing on, setting our mind on the things above NOT on the things of this earth.

Are you getting my drift?

“which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.”
Ephesians 1:20-21

We aren’t alone in this. We aren’t the first ones to have these struggles. These battles.
He has gone before us. He cleared the path for us. He has set us free.

Won’t you let Him set you free?

remember this

Old School is Cool

Ok I thought it would just be super-duper fun if I posted some pictures from the good ‘ol days. Just so you can all laugh uncontrollably at what I looked like. This will force me to dig out pictures from pre-digital days and sort them.
But to start we will go visit summer of the year 2006…

(Ummm…where did that somewhat flat tummy go? And why was it replaced with this thing I got now?)

(That’s my now 11 yr old sister Lex. She was itty-bitty then & our dog Bandit was already giant.)

(Nice hair honey…I think it’s now looking a little further back different!)
DSCN07730574
(Yes, I had dark hair at one point. I kind of miss it, should I bring it back?)

(I’m happy to announce, the hubby still looks this good when he plays golf!)

(always with the funny faces, he still does this)

My Little Tap Dancer

So if you know anything about me, you’ll know that I have a 4 year old sister.
Yes, you read that right.
I am 24 & she is 4. I’ll share the story sometime, but today I wont.
Little Miss G is constantly singing or dancing. So it was only natural that as soon as she was old enough, my mama signed her up for tap class.
She is in heaven. However, we find it hysterical that her teacher claims G is the most serious girl in the class. She doesn’t crack a smile. But she tells us she’s having fun.
My other sister Lex took tap for few years, but now she’s on to jazz. Which has me confused….I don’t really understand jazz. Anyone? She says they don’t dance to like Frank Sinatra or anything & isn’t that a jazz dude? I’m confused.
But anyways, back to G.  Please sit back & enjoy some precious pics of my littlest sister, courtesy of my dad.

Isn’t she cute? And that’s Lex doing the partner dance! It’s so fun when G wants me to sit down and watch the latest moves she learned. Lex used to do the same thing!
Being a big sister is probably the best job, well when I’m a mama it will become a very close second.
But for now I get to have all the fun, but none of the “parent” responsibilities!

Potential Shop Items…

So last week my sweet friend Melissa posted about the canvas that my hubby & I made her. Which led us to seriously consider starting our own little shop. Of course, we are in the very beginning stage of this project but it’s exciting none the less. I though I’d share with you some of the other canvas’ that we have made.

And here is the one we sent Melissa.

And here are some of the prints I made for my upcoming GLOW group, but could make great items to hang in your home too. And the best thing is, they can be totally customizable just like the canvas’.

Jeremiah 29-11

I’m also thinking of offering customized invitations. Sorry, no samples of those yet.
My mind is spinning with other ideas too, but you’ll have to wait until the shop opens to see!!
{But first, my MR. needs to think of a name…that’s the hardest part}
What do you think? Could we be successful?

Photo-A-Day

It’s time to update you all on my January photo-a-day fun.

Happy Friday!
It’s date night & the hubby is treating me to dinner & a movie! What should we see?
I’d ask where we should eat, but we live in Podunk, USA & our choices exist of Applebee’s, Friendly’s or Pondagrosa. Yea….much to be desired.

Monday again.

Back to the busyness of life.
Wait who am I kidding? I don't really have a job so how could I ever be busy, right?
But believe me, I'm wondering how I ever accomplished anything while I was still working full time.
It's almost noon & I'm still struggling with finding any motivation to tackle my to-do list, let alone trying to do that at 5 or 6 when I've been a slave to the workforce all day.
(Note: I'm not putting down working ladies)
I'm actually extremely impressed that you have the energy to get everything done, with a smile on your face!
I used to be you, perhaps without the smile sometimes.
But God is completely changing my feelings on this little topic.
People, mainly close people, keep asking me what I actually do all day.
My answer: I sit on my rump all day, (see indent on the couch) watch tv all day, blog/facebook/pinterest/tweet all day, drink coffee all day, do absolutely nothing but stare at the ceiling alll day.
Just kidding.
I have errands to run. Husbands to tend to. GLOW events to plan. Business plans to write. Encouragement to offer. Laundry to do. Cleaning to attempt. Dinner to make (some days, thank heavens for my MIL).
{Of course, I do have an insane amount of coffee all day to accomplish this list.}
I think I could probably go on and on with that list, but I'll spare you.

Life at home is BUSY. and hard.
Just the same as life at work is BUSY. and hard.

So all that to say, I am in a transition. My life is changing. And I'm ok with that.
It's called trust.
Not trust in the man or trust in an employer or even trust in my husband.
It's trust in God.

There are a lot of amazing things happening in my life. in my marriage.
And today on this dreary Monday, when all I want to do is live up to those joke answers of what I do all day & really prove those discouraging people right, I'm going to decide...
it's a good day to have a good day.

Won't you do the same?

------------

And for your viewing pleasure, my hubby just sent me this text.

Add that to my daily to-do!

New Years Post

I did this post on New Years Day over at Pineapple Lily. Thought I'd share it with you.

---------------------------------------------------------

I hope you're as excited for 2012 as I am. I don't really make resolutions because I'm horrible at keeping them & I hate failing so why set myself up for it, right?

So instead of giving you a list of things I probably won't accomplish, I'm going to take this cute idea from Thirty Handmade Days to share what my hopes for this coming year are. It's basically the same thing as writing resolutions but when it's broken up like this, I feel much better about actually doing them. Am I alone on that?

If you want to make your own, go here.

And because no post is complete without a silly picture....here's one of me trying to get an Oreo in my mouth (w/out using my hands) during a very intense game of Minute to Win It this past summer.
Yes, my family is that cool at birthday parties.
And yes, I own a fluorescent orange shirt & I'm not ashamed
You're welcome America.

Happy New Year

GLOW

Today is one week from the day that will hold our first GLOW event.
GLOW stands for Girls Lighting Our World.
And that's exactly what we intend to do.
LIGHT OUR WORLD.

Won't you come along beside us & help encourage those sweet young girls in your life?
They need it. Believe me.
They have broken hearts and trials that a girl of 11 shouldn't have to face.
Maybe this video that they put together will get you on board?
Maybe this video will show you that these girls are crying out. They are searching.
Let's be the ones that show them just how to shine for the Lord.

Please be praying this week that the Lord will speak through me. He will give me the words to teach these girls how to live a life of truth & faith. Pray for the other ladies that are working along side me to make this group a success.  Pray for the girls. That they will come with open hearts (and ears) to receive what the Lord wants to show them.Whether 2 girls show up or 10 girls come, we WILL make a difference.

VLOG. Yes, I am giving in.

Why not, right?
I sound like a complete tool when I talk & and I touch my hair & my nose a lot. Plus I make this weird noise in between talking. And don't even get me started on the still frame YouTube thinks is appropriate to advertise the video.
But....you asked.
I deliver.
It's kind of fun making one. (or 2, since the first one was really bad)

Now, go make your own so I can see all of your pretty faces!!
